Graded an Approved Elite Stallion at his inspection in Latvia during the final days of the USSR, Svengali received 10 in his bonnet points for conformation and 8 for appearance during his inspection. Imported in 1992 as a four year old, Svengali is classically and correctly trained and has competed to Grand Prix. He has extraordinary, extravagant gaits, the temperament of a gentleman, excellent bone and beautiful markings that enhance his mahogany bay color.

Svengali's sire and dam were both Approved Elite Russian Warmbloods at the state-owned breeding farm in Kotsenia, Latvia, USSR, where Svengali was bred and born. His sire, Graphit, was an upper level dressage competitor, well known and recognized for his extravagant movement and glorious mahogany bay coloring; both of which are clearly seen in Svengali. His dam, Liga, was an abundant producer, as well as a proven dressage performer. Svengali's sire and dam both come from long lines of Approved Elite Russian Hanoverians.
